For first time customers, I come to your home prior to the start of service to obtain detailed information on pet care for all Treasured Friends in the home. At that time I will answer any questions you may have about Critter Cronies, Inc., or services to be provided and pick up a key / access code / entry device.
Please be prepared to provide information including (but not limited to):
- Contact information for your destination (needed for each service period) - cell phone service may not be available / reliable
- Name / address / phone number of your veterinarian (if you use more than one vet, please have information available for individual vets) - notify them CCI will be caring for your pets and make arrangements for payment of care prior to departure - if your pet is senior / has health issues, let the vet know your wishes regarding euthanasia if necessary - otherwise life-saving efforts may be utilized
- Name / address / phone number of an emergency contact person (preferably local) - please tell this person about me and give them my contact information
- Specifics on medications for pets as necessary (name of medications, proper dosage, time of day given, method (in food, pill pocket, etc.), - if topical - where applied, location of medications, if necessary, make sure the pet's name is on the container; if monthly parasite control (flea/tick/heartworm), what date to apply
- Known pet allergies, including any medications
- Specifics on food for each pet - brand name, wet and/or dry, quantity per meal, does cold wet food need to be microzapped? Where do the pets eat? What time of day?
- Treats - what type / brand / how many per day?
- Water bowls - location / how many bowls, tap or bottled water?
- Microchip information - tag number, tag registration company name and contact information (Avid, HomeAgain, etc.) - make sure correct tag is on correct collar
- Proof of up-to-date vaccinations for each pet (as applicable)
- Name of other persons who will be in / around your home (housekeeper, pool service, yard service) and their expected schedule - does the housekeeper have a key?
- Are there neighborhood pets / houses to avoid on walks?
- Particular quirks for your pets - such as don't touch my toes, I love belly rubs, I don't like being brushed, I don't like to be picked up, I love to play ball
- Location of supplies (food, treats, litter, carriers, toys, waste bags and where to dispose of them)
- Location of leashes / collars / towels for rainy-day clean-up
- Location of general cleaning supplies. Please ensure these are available prior to your departure.
- Will fish tanks have automatic feeders? Automatic lights?
- Do you cover your bird at night? Please note I cannot let birds out of their cage during your absence.
- Are pets allowed on furniture?
- Will pets have limited access to specific areas of the house? Are they allowed to free-roam?
- Will the dog be crated? Maximum time allowed between visits? (overnight is approximately 12 hours)
- Your disaster / emergency plan and local contact person?
- Put current contact information tags on each collar (it is recommended that you do not include the pet's name - this may prevent a stranger from creating a bond with your pet)
- Any pertinent information regarding care for your pets!
There is no charge for the first (meet and greet) visit. A "dry run" (no charge) may be required to ensure your dog will allow entry / leashing during your absence. Any additional visits required / requested prior to the start of service, are billed at the basic per visit rate.
If your sitter will arrive for the first visit after dark, please leave lights on (outside and inside)!
